Costco is planning to open a glass workshop and glass shop next year in the nation’s capital, and the store will serve food and beverage.
The chain, which also operates its own grocery store in the city, said Monday it will offer glass products to consumers, including food and beverages, and to retailers.
The store, expected to open in the fall of 2017, will be the largest glass outlet in the United States and will be built in an industrial space in a former liquor warehouse, Costco said in a statement.
The shop will feature a large glass display with a full-size display on the counter.
It will be located on the first floor of the Costco Supercenter in the Merchandise Mart at 12th and P Streets NW.
The company said it expects the shop to generate more than $200 million in annual sales and a total of $100 million in direct and indirect taxes.
“Our goal is to be a destination for people to enjoy a fresh, fresh experience and find a store that is both environmentally friendly and comfortable,” Costco said.
