In a first for the city, the Government has decided to introduce a cashless card scheme, similar to one proposed by the Centre for the elimination of corruption in the country.

The scheme will start in September and be rolled out across the city by November, said a release issued by the Department of Finance.

The scheme will be implemented through various channels, including a cash-only debit card, mobile phones and bank cards.

This scheme is aimed at removing the need for transactions and increasing consumer convenience, the release said.

The card will also have an electronic feature to help the cardholder identify themselves and their identity, and the card will be used for paying the bill of a seller.

A special card for the buyer will be made available for free by the government, the government release said, adding that the card holder will be able to redeem the card on an online platform.
